The management of Redeemer’s University has congratulated Dr Timilehin Gideon Shaba, a faculty member, for being awarded the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) PhD Thesis Prize 2025 (Mathematics & Statistics Section) and the overall Best NSPS Phd Thesis prize.
This recognition was announced to the public on January 11, 2026, with the formal presentation of the award taking place on February 10, 2026, during the 2026 NSPS Conference held at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State.
The Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Prof Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, ffan, fffps, has extended hearty congratulations to Dr Shaba on this achievement.
“We are incredibly proud of Dr Shaba for this national recognition.
His success is a testament to the culture of academic excellence and rigorous research that Redeemer’s University embodies. We congratulate him on bringing this honour to our institution and look forward to his continued contributions to the field of Mathematics,” he said.
Dr Shaba received the award amidst other distinguished academics and scientists. He received a comprehensive prize package comprising: ₦550,000 cash prize, an award certificate and commemorative plaque.
Also included were Life Membership of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (LNSPS), full APC waiver for one article per year in any NSPS journal for the next three years, conference sponsorship for the NSPS Conference, effective from 2027.
The NSPS PhD Thesis Prize is a highly competitive award that recognises outstanding research contributions.
