The Office of the Secretary to the Osun State Government wishes to alert the general public to the existence of a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating the Secretary to the State Government, Bobagunwa Teslim Igbalaye.
This was contained in a statement released and signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communication to the Secretary to the Osun State Government, Kehinde Adeoye which stated that the fake account operates under the name “Teslim Igbalaye” and uses the official photograph of the SSG in a deliberate attempt to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
We categorically state that this account is FAKE and has no connection whatsoever with the SSG or his office.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Secretary to the State Government maintains only one official Facebook page, which operates under the name “Hon. Teslim Igbalaye.” Any other account bearing his name or image is an act of impersonation.
It has been brought to our attention that the impersonator is fraudulently promising opportunities in exchange for monetary payments. The public is hereby informed that the SSG does not request or receive money from anyone in exchange for appointments, employment, empowerment programmes, or any government-related opportunity.
Members of the public are strongly advised to exercise due diligence and verify the authenticity of any social media account before engaging. Anyone who chooses to transact or conduct business with the fraudulent account does so entirely at his or her own risk.
Appropriate steps have been initiated to report the fake account to the relevant authorities, and efforts are underway to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
