The video, posted by a user identified as Oma Amina TV, alleged that one Danjuma Sule, a bus driver and indigene of Kogi State, was fatally shot by police personnel.

However, police authorities say the video is not only false but also misleading and intended to cause unnecessary panic.

In a statement released in Lokoja on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) in Kogi State SP William Ovye Aya, said the incident portrayed in the video did not occur in the state.

He clarified that the footage dates back to March 12, 2025, adding that it was being wrongly recirculated.

“The video is not just a figment of the author’s imagination but entirely misleading and highly mischievous.

“The claim that the incident happened in Kogi is based solely on the fact that the deceased was an indigene of the state, which is misleading,” Aya stated.

The police further criticized the lack of specific details in the video, including the exact location and time of the alleged incident, suggesting that the content was fabricated to stir fear and tension among residents.

“The author should have indicated where and when the incident occurred rather than being vague. This is clearly the work of mischief-makers,” Aya said.

The command urged members of the public to disregard the video and continue with their daily activities without fear, assuring them that the state remains secure.

Aya reiterated the police’s commitment, alongside other security agencies, to ensure the safety of lives and property across Kogi State.
