Osogbo – In a dramatic turn of events ahead of the Saturday local government elections in Osun State, Senator Mudashiru Hussein, a top leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that security agencies, including the Police and Department of State Services (DSS), have been directed by the presidency to accompany APC members in taking over local government secretariats on Wednesday.

In a leaked audio message circulating among party members, Senator Hussein stated that APC members have been instructed to gather at police stations in each local government area, from where security forces will escort them to assume control of the council secretariats.

“Tomorrow, we must mobilize. That is the directive from our leaders. All top leaders will be at the police station,” Hussein said in the leaked recording. “We have to take power back from these people. We have the backing of the Presidency.”

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, the Director of DSS, and the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have all received official signals to implement this directive.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sunday Bisi, has warned PDP members to stay away from the secretariats, reiterating Governor Ademola Adeleke’s earlier directive. He also alleged a plot to arrest PDP members ahead of Saturday’s local government elections.

“We remind our members of the directive of Mr. Governor to stay away from the secretariats. We should focus on our campaigns for the Saturday polls,” Bisi stated.

The PDP chairman further accused the APC of being the aggressor and called on the Inspector General of Police to intervene and halt what he described as “unlawful activities” in Osun State.

“We will remain peaceful. We will abide by the law. We will campaign and wait for elections on Saturday,” he added.

This development raises tensions ahead of the local government elections, with concerns over potential clashes between political parties and security forces.
