The Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Simon Imobo-Tswam,  has said his boss, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, was elected to return PDP to power.

Imobo-Tswam described the rumpus in the party as a burden associated with leadership which he said his boss was managing well.

Imobo-Tswam, during a chat with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, noted that based on Ayu’s experience and prowess he had acquired from the onset, he was fit for the office.

The PDP has experienced political rumpus in the aftermath of its special presidential convention held in May when the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike, failed to clinch the presidential ticket of the party.

Imobo-Tswam stated, “Ayu was elected to take PDP back to power, the party was in crisis when he took over. The whole party beginning from his zone, looked at his person, his credentials and decided that a man like him should come at this time and unite the party, galvanize it for victory and recover the country from the mediocrity of the ruling party APC and I will say, so far so good.

“The crisis or the ripples within the party is part of the burden of leadership and he is managing it well, he is prepared and experienced for the office he is currently holding.

“Leadership is a burden, if you do not want the burden, you don’t shop at the leadership counter , you stay at home and sell ice cream. Everybody in public space especially in the front should be ready for the burden. He can multi-task , he can also manage crisis.”

He stressed that the national chairman had been a university teacher, had been the chairman of ASUU University of Jos chapter, had been a senator, a senate president and a minister several times over, which gave him this experiences in preparation of what is happening presently.

Continuing he said that Benue is a safe state for the PDP adding that the national chairman was managing and activating the internal conflict resolution mechanisms.

“At the moment we are still talking. Everything is still on the table, the party is appealing to every aggrieved stakeholder, crisis in the family don’t need to go on forever. Our opponents are not in PDP, they are in the APC and that is where our focus is.”

On the issue of election he emphasised that the 2023 elections would be in favour of the PDP.

He referenced the candidate’s experience, preparation, network and providence in the life of the party’s candidate, and then the political history.

“Right from day one,  destiny has said Atiku is an Abuja person not a local player. These other candidates, let them wait, destiny has already spoken about Atiku, he is a national player, it is his turn.”
