A church pastor and his dear wife have been killed after their car was allegedly dragged by floods.
The pastor was on her way from church when the car he was using was caught by the flooded Rivet Evoesyo in Enzueni Sub-County Makueni County.
According to eyewitness information shared by the Standard Digital newspaper, the AIC pastor, identified as Joseph Mbalya, and his wife were using a personal car, a Nissan Extrail from AIC Maumbo Church in Wote Town, when the swelling River Evoesyo overwhelmed them and swallowed them alive.
The drowned body of the pastor has already been recovered, just as the body of his wife was also retrieved.
The witness alleged that he heard people screaming from the upper part of the river as their car was seen rolling down the river. The area residents attempted to rescue them, but all in vain.
“I heard screams from the upper side of the river, and when I rushed there, I saw the car rolling down the river. It was an unfortunate encounter that we have retrieved the body of the pastor, as all attempts to get the accomplice’s body continue,” the eyewitness recounted, as quoted by the Standard Newspaper.
