Pastor Adeboye and Gov Umo Eno Pay Condolence Visit to Late Evangelist Uma Ukpai’s Family in Uyo

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Monday, October 27, 2025, paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late Evangelist Dr. Uma Ukpai in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Pastor Adeboye was accompanied by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, during the private visit to offer comfort and prayers to the bereaved family.

Speaking during the visit, Pastor Adeboye described Dr. Ukpai as a true general of the Christian faith who dedicated his life to evangelism, spiritual revival, and humanitarian work. He noted that the late evangelist had completed his earthly assignment and had gone home to be with the Lord.

“The last time I was in Uyo was during my friend’s 80th birthday. He felt that he had done his part and it was time to go home. Anyone who has seen a glimpse of heaven will not want to remain here,”

He urged the Christian community and the family not to mourn as those without hope but to rejoice that Dr. Ukpai served faithfully and ended well.

Governor Umo Eno, while welcoming Pastor Adeboye, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a touching demonstration of brotherhood and spiritual solidarity. He noted that Dr. Ukpai’s contributions to the faith and development of Akwa Ibom State would remain indelible.

Responding on behalf of the family, Pastor (Mrs.) Philomena Ukpai thanked Pastor Adeboye and Governor Umo Eno for their presence and support. She described her late husband as a visionary, disciplined, and deeply committed servant of God

“In many ways, he knew his time had come. I will continue the work. He was a focused man. When we came here, Uyo was a glorified village; today, it is a beautiful city. We are truly grateful for all the love shown to us,”

she said.

Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, was an internationally recognized evangelist known for his impactful crusades, promotion of Christian unity, and philanthropic projects across Nigeria and beyond.
