Pakistan’s army confirmed on Wednesday that more than 300 hostages from a passenger train seized by terrorists in Balochistan province have been freed, BBC reports.
The militants, designated as terrorists, attacked the train on Tuesday while it was carrying nearly 400 passengers.
A military spokesperson stated that no fewer than 33 militants were killed during the operation.
The spokesperson further revealed that 21 civilian hostages and four military personnel were killed by the Baloch Liberation Army, BLA, before the operation began.
The military continues its search operation in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.
Pakistani authorities, along with several Western countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States, have designated the BLA as a terrorist organisation.
