In a recent statement, Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Governor of Osun State, has firmly rebutted claims made by the current governor, Ademola Adeleke, regarding alleged plans to destabilize the state. Oyetola urged Adeleke to respect the recent Appeal Court judgement that reinstated local government chairmen who had been removed.

During a World Press Conference, Governor Adeleke accused Oyetola of conspiring to create chaos in Osun by utilizing security agencies following the court’s ruling. However, Oyetola, in a statement released by his media office, emphasized his commitment to peace and the rule of law, categorically denying any intentions to incite unrest.

Oyetola remarked, “For the four years I governed Osun, I demonstrated a commitment to peace and respect for the judiciary. I would never engage in actions that threaten law and order.” He highlighted that when he was wrongfully ousted in 2022, he chose legal avenues rather than resorting to violence.

The minister further stated that his appeal to security agencies was solely to uphold the court’s ruling, insisting that he is not someone who would be involved in destabilization efforts. He called on Adeleke to refrain from what he termed “cheap blackmail,” urging respect for judicial decisions.
