A member of the House of Representatives from Ondo State, Mr Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that there are over N1 trillion abandoned projects in Ondo and other Niger Delta states.

Tunji-Ojo who is the Chairman, House Committee on Niger Delta disclosed that the abandoned projects scattered around the Niger Delta states would be completed soon.

The federal lawmaker, representing Akoko North-East/ Akoko North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, spoke with our correspondent in Akure, the state capital.

“We have over N1 trillion worth of abandoned projects, but we are placing priorities on them.

“It is not about starting something you will not finish it and you will start another one, to whose benefit are you doing it? I can assure you that I’m pretty hopeful that the matter will be resolved by the grace of God.

Tunji-Ojo who is also the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Akoko North-East/ Akoko North-West Federal Constituency boasted that his first term in the National Assembly has been impactful, saying he ensured every community in his federal constituency felt the impact of his representation.

He said, “I promise my people only one thing, which is a quality representation and we have been able to influence many infrastructural projects to my federal constituency. We have also done a lot in the area of human capital development.

“So for me, my reelection is like a  referendum.

“A referendum of maybe we want to continue our journey to the ‘promise land’ or we want to go back to ‘Egypt’.

“Before I became a Reps member, we have had democracy for 20 years (1999 – 2019), but in the last three and half years, if we put the scorecards on the table. The difference is clear in my federal constituency.”

The APC chieftain also called on Nigerians to vote for the presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, saying Tinubu was capable of doing the Nigerian job well.

“I am not supporting Tinubu because he is the candidate of our party, I am supporting him because of his legacies and that is what I think is important in this coming election.”
