In a robust defense of the state workforce, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Osun State has condemned the recent intimidation tactics employed by the sacked chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP characterized these threats as a blatant display of animosity towards public workers, asserting that the actions of the ousted chairmen reflect a long-standing pattern of hostility against those committed to the development of the state.
The PDP expressed its support for the workers, commending their dedication amidst the rising chaos and unlawful behavior exhibited by the disoriented opposition. “The threats issued by the sacked chairmen, now reduced to mere pawns of their party’s archaic leadership, starkly reveal the APC’s enduring quest to undermine the wellbeing and morale of Osun’s public servants,” the party stated.
In a press release from its media office, the PDP highlighted the invaluable role of organized labor in state-building and economic stability, urging local government entities to ensure the safety and security of their workers. The party condemned the APC for resorting to intimidation tactics, which it described as an attempt to manipulate and control public servants.
Moreover, the PDP has called upon security agencies to initiate thorough investigations into reports of arms buildup among APC members, particularly as the state approaches the 2026 governorship elections. The party warned that the APC’s aggressive actions could lead to violence and instability if left unchecked.
The PDP has also taken a stand against false narratives propagated by the APC, which have accused the ruling party of importing thugs into the state. The PDP firmly rejected these claims, asserting they serve only to mask the violence perpetrated by the APC and its affiliates.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the PDP demanded that police authorities, led by Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, act impartially and protect the lives of citizens rather than succumb to political pressures. The party called for immediate action to investigate APC members reportedly involved in recent violent incidents, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice.
As tensions escalate in Osun State, the PDP remains committed to fostering peace and stability, warning the APC against misinterpreting their commitment to non-violence as a sign of weakness. “Osun’s populace is vigilant and will not tolerate any form of intimidation or violence against their rights and livelihoods,” the PDP concluded.
This statement serves as a call to action for both the government and security agencies to prioritize the safety of Osun citizens as the state gears up for an important electoral cycle.
