As Osun State prepared for the local government elections on Saturday, February 22, 2025, Otunba Peter Obafemi (OPO), a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, urged all eligible voters in Osun to carefully consider the PDP candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions across the state.
Obafemi emphasized the critical role of local government in delivering the dividends of democracy, stating that it is the closest tier of government to the people. He expressed the view that aligning local governance with the vision of Governor Senator Jackson Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke’s administration, which has prioritized the welfare of the people, could contribute to sustained development in the state.
“There can be balanced and accelerated development when the local governments and the state government work together under the same leadership,” Obafemi said. He criticized the past performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, suggesting that their policies had hindered grassroots progress and deepened economic hardship.
Obafemi expressed confidence in Governor Adeleke’s leadership and the progress achieved under his administration. He encouraged the people of Osun State to continue supporting the governor’s transformative agenda.
While urging voters to consider the PDP candidates, Obafemi also called for peaceful conduct during and after the elections. He emphasized the importance of the electorate making informed choices to ensure the continued progress and development of Osun State.
