One of the foremost and experienced pioneer Pilots of the Nigeria Airways, Captain Olumuyiwa Olumogba Rtd clocks 80 on 15 May 2025.
His children are rolling out the drums to thank the Almighty God for sustaining their father for flying many planes for 17 years and retired without any incident
A Thanksgiving and reception for him will hold at Anglican Church of Ascension Omodara Street Opebi Lagos on Thursday 15th May at 11 am.
Captain Olumuyiwa Olumogba was born on 15th May 1945 to Hon. Claudius and Mrs Florence Olumogba in idanre, Ondo state into a Christian family of the Anglican communion. He is married with children and grandchildren.
His primary school education was at St.George’s Primary school idanre. He had his secondary school education at Ekiti Baptist Boys High School, Igede Ekiti . Had his tertiary education at Federal school of science at O’ level and A level .
Proceeded to England in 1968 for further education and had private pilot license at the London school of flying , Elstree England . Proceeded to Canada for professional flight training at the North American Flight Academy , Calgary Alberta Canada.
Employed as operations officer while training for further endorsement as flight instructor and advanced ground instructor at Perkiomen Airways, Reading Pennsylvania, USA.
He was employed by the recruitment team from the federal government of Nigeria in 1973. Resumed employment into federal civil aviation unit, federal ministry of transport and Aviation Marina Lagos.
In the interim he had the opportunity to develop the Lagos Flying club, where he trained pilots to the private pilot licence and for those who chose to further to professional pilot licence at Kirikiri playing field which was converted to an Airfield.
The ministry posted him to civil aviation flying unit Ikeja Airport. His service was transferred to the Nigeria Airways in 1976. Professionally trained and flew the Fokker 27 , fokker 28, Boeing B737, Boeing B707 and one of the few lucky ones to fly the Boeing 747( the biggest aircraft of the time ) all on the colors of Nigeria Airways until retirement.
Had since retirement been into Aviation consultancy services and other investments.
