Ondo takes measures to alleviate hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal

The Ondo State Government on Wednesday disclosed that efforts have begun towards exploring strategies to alleviate the hardships brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy among residents of the state.

In a statement by the Acting Governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, residents across the 18 local government areas have grappled with the growing hardship occasioned by the subsidy removal.

While highlighting the government’s commitment to alleviate the impact of subsidy removal, Aiyedatiwa revealed that the state government is actively collaborating with the federal government through the National Economic Council, NEC, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to him, the collaboration aims to find effective solutions to mitigate the negative consequences of the development.

The acting governor stated that the state government was aware of the numerous challenges faced by the people and affirmed the administration’s understanding of their distress.

Aiyedatiwa maintained that the move will ensure that state workers benefit from measures put in place to counteract the adverse effects of the subsidy removal.

“It is important to reiterate to our people that the State Government is also not oblivious to the hardships and inconveniences attendant to the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.

“Apart from the measures being contemplated by the state government, our administration is also in collaboration with the federal government.”
