The Niger State Government has described as baseless rumour regarding the incident at the Government House, Minna, where it was alleged that someone’s genitals went missing.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, said in a statement that the rumour in circulation regarding the incident and subsequent disappearance of the culprit was erroneous.

The government stated categorically that the rumour is completely baseless and without any factual basis.

It noted, “While acknowledging the important roles of the media in reporting news, it remains pertinent that journalists exercise responsible journalism and refrain from spreading unverified rumours that can cause panic and anxiety among the public.”

The governor’s media aide also reassured the public that the security measures at the Government House Minna remain robust and efficient, as it has always been saying,” the security operatives are always conscious of the safety and well-being of everyone within the premises and the state as a whole.”

He further called on the public to rely on credible sources of information and refrain from sharing or spreading unverified rumours.

“We are calling on the residents of the state to disregard the rumour and go about their lawful businesses,” the statement added.
