Nigerian TV Host, Morayo Afolabi-Brown has shared her stance on Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky winning the competition for the Best Dressed Female at a movie premiere recently.
Recall that social media was in an uproar after the self-proclaimed transgender was awarded the sum of one million naira for the Best Dressed Female category at the premiere of Beast of Two Worlds.
Morayo stated that Bobrisky is an example of the Nigerian factor having two sides; in one hand Nigerians are against his lifestyle and in another, it is 14 years in imprisonment having a romantic relationship with same sex.
In her words,
“As long as this person has not broken any law, as long as the law has not arrested shim for anything, we have no right to criticize shim for winning a competition that shim has offered herself to”
She further explained that Bobrisky is a well protected personality, who has never been arrested or questioned by the law for his choice. On no occasion has he revealed his partner be it a male or female.
She also added that the controversy around Bobrisky is quite confusing as people don’t accept his choice. Morayo queried why people feel offended for him winning a female competition after he has changed into a woman.
