The Federal Government has appointed a professor of neurosurgery, Mahmud Raji, as the new Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital, Abuja.

Raji received his letter of appointment from the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire on Thursday.

The appointment is coming over a month after the Governing Board of the hospital petitioned the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to intervene in the appointment of a new CMD for the hospital.

The hospital had two acting CMDs, Dr Aisha Umar and Dr Abba Badamasi, after the eight-year tenure of the former CMD, Dr Jaf Momoh, which ended in 2022.
