The survivors are currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, following the stampede that occurred on Friday morning.

The stampede, which took place at the Convocation Square of the state-owned institution, happened just before the distribution of palliative measures aimed at mitigating the effects of subsidy removal in the country.

The incident also resulted in the loss of lives, including those of some undergraduate students.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Addra, the governor vowed to apprehend and prosecute anyone found responsible for the acts.

The governor had recently initiated the distribution of palliatives, including two bags of 7.5 kilograms of rice and N5,000, to students of tertiary institutions in the state.

However, the exercise, which began on Monday, March 18, with students of the Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia, was marred by irregularities, with many beneficiaries claiming to have received rice without any money accompanying it.
