The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended the Management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) under Prof. Is-haq Oloyede for what it described as meritorious service and sustained efforts at reforming Nigeria’s tertiary education admission process.

The commendation was made when a delegation of NAPS executives paid a courtesy visit to the Board’s National Headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, on Thursday, 5th March, 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the National President of NAPS, Cmdr. Eshofune Paul Oghayan, lauded the Registrar and his Management team for strengthening transparency, accountability, and integrity in the admission process into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

“Since you assumed office as the Registrar, you have demonstrated unflinching integrity that has stood the test of time. You have shown what leadership ought to be and have, indeed, rewritten the history of JAMB,” he stated.

He further commended the Board for tightening the admission processes in tertiary institutions across the country, noting that the reforms had greatly reduced irregularities and enhanced merit in the placement of candidates.

“NAPS wishes to thank you for transforming the admission process of our tertiary institutions. This great feat has not gone unnoticed by students across the country, and we applaud you for it,” he added.

The association also appealed to the Board to support the second phase of its National Campus Sensitisation Tour, an initiative designed to orientate students on leadership values, responsible student unionism, and the proper procedures involved in the Board’s admission processes.

In his response, the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, expressed appreciation to the NAPS leadership for the visit and their words of encouragement.

He noted that the commendation would further motivate the Board to remain committed to its mandate of ensuring a transparent and credible admission system in Nigeria.

Prof. Oloyede also praised the association for using its platform to promote responsible leadership among students rather than inciting unrest or division within the academic community.

He encouraged the student leaders to assist the Board in sensitising students nationwide on the importance of adhering strictly to the established admission procedures, while discouraging all forms of admission infractions.

According to him, there are no shortcuts to success, stressing that students must embrace diligence, integrity, and patience in pursuing their academic goals.
