Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk has warned the club’s fans over their ‘expectations’ for him in the upcoming 2024-25 campaign.

The Blues signed Mudryk in a £88.5m deal from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023 but the 23-year-old has largely struggled since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk failed to score a goal and provided just two assists across 15 Premier League games last season in what was a slow start to life in west London.

The current campaign is Mudryk’s first full season at Chelsea but he has only managed to produce seven goals and two assists in 40 games in all competitions.

Chelsea fans are keen to see the Ukraine international reach his full potential – especially given he is under contact until 2031 – and hope he’ll improve next term.

One Blues supporter, @anishpokharel29, reached out to Mudryk on Monday and posted on Instagram: ‘Misha, what can we expect from you for next season?’

Mudryk provided somewhat of a worrying answer and replied: ‘Expectations are [what] kills our happiness.’

The Chelsea fan wrote back: ‘Fairs Misha [clapping emoji]. I’m pretty sure you will tear it up here at Chelsea next season, can’t wait to see [the] unleashed version of yourself next season.’

Meanwhile, a second supporter asked Mudryk to name his favourite Chelsea player of all time and the Ukrainian picked Eden Hazard.

Hazard conjured up 110 goals and 85 assists across 352 games for Chelsea between 2012 and 2019.

Mudryk scored in Chelsea’s 3-2 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest last time out.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have hit somewhat of a purple patch, losing just one of their last five top-flight games.

Despite an upturn in form there is still huge speculation over Pochettino’s future as head coach with Chelsea set to conduct a review after their final game of the season.
