A Max Air Boeing 737 aircraft, registration number 5N-MBD, suffered a tyre burst as it landed at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano on Tuesday night, January 28.
The incident occurred at 10:57 PM as Flight VM1605 arrived from Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. All 53 passengers on board were safely evacuated . No one suffered any injury.
A source at the airport said the plane nose dive on landing Up to now no official statement from Max Air.
Max Air’s fleet had experienced similar incidents in the past. In May 2023, the same aircraft, 5N-MBD, suffered multiple tyre bursts upon landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
Additionally, in July 2024, another Max Air Boeing 737 experienced a tyre burst during takeoff at Yola Airport.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has previously conducted audits on Max Air following such incidents, identifying several safety and maintenance violations.
Despite these findings, the airline has continued its operations
