Toronto Raptors vice-chairman, Masai Ujiri, through his foundation, Giants of Africa has launched a new basketball court at Londonderry School in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

A statement from the foundation on Friday said the project is sponsored by Sun Life Canada, with support from the Toronto Raptors and MLSE Foundation.

Described as the first of its kind outside of the African continent, the court is an extension of Giants of Africa’s commitment to build 100 courts across Africa. Already, 29 new courts have been unveiled in nine African countries.

In his remarks at the unveiling which featured a co-ed basketball clinic and life skills education session conducted by NBA personnel and Giants of Africa coaches, Ujiri noted that the court will serve as a development hub, offering a safe space for youth to hone their skills and develop values like teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
