Many areas in Abuja, the Federal Territory Capital that hosted dignitaries around the world for the inauguration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the 16th President of Nigeria has suffered blackout on the past two days.
No reason has been given from Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for throwing the city into darkness.
Many who wanted to stay at home and watch the event at Eagles Square thronged the fuel stations to power their generators.
At the time if this report AEDC is yet to restore lights to residents in Jabi , Airport road and life camp areas.
Those enjoying power supplies are those around Presidential Vill, Central areas where most of the guests are lodged in hotels and suites.
A consumer Francis David said: ” This is a disgrace of a nation where the capital city is thrown into utter darkness. Some areas not having light have visitors lodging in private homes and hotels. I do hope the new administration will walk the talk else how do we explain to our children that 63 years after independence Nigeria still depend on alternate ways of generating electricity. What a shame !!”
