The Brazil international joined United on the recommendation of Ten Hag over two years ago in a £85million move from Ajax but has failed to live up to expectations.
Despite a bright start to his Old Trafford career, the 24-year-old scored just four goals in his first season and managed just one contribution last season in a campaign hampered with off-field issues relating toĀ accusations of domestic violence.
This season, Antony scored his only goal in theĀ 7-0Ā EFL CupĀ thrashing over Barnsley last weekĀ but has been afforded just two substitute appearances in theĀ Premier League.
With the impending arrival of Ruben Amorim, Antony may be afforded a second chance at the club.
However, talkSPORT reports that wonāt be the case and the club have already informed the winger that he can leave when the transfer window reopens in January.
His former club Ajax as well as Brazilian side Flamengo have been credited with an interest, while other Premier League clubs may also explore a loan deal.
Speaking after Ten Hagās departure, former United full-back Gary Neville labelled Antony as one of the worst signings in the clubās history.
āThe recruitment to be fair has been appalling for ten years and heās been a victim of that himself,ā he said.
āI think he oversaw two of the worst transfers Manchester United will ever have made in the signings of Casemiro and Antony.
āThey were signed for Ā£140-150m in a panic after the Brentford and Brighton losses. I hope Iām wrong, I hope Casemiro can do a great job for the club for four or five years and I hope Antony comes good.
āBut those signings are why United have had to go back into the transfer market and sign [Manuel] Ugarte and other players.
āThat was the ultimate in poor management from those above Erik ten Hag. That should have been one big fat no when those two players became available for those prices and those salaries.ā
