A fallen tree killed a woman, while 10 others sustained injuries on Monday, October 25, in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
The victims were waiting by the roadside near Baystar petrol station in the Zango-Kulende area, opposite Oke-Andi junction, Ilorin, to catch commercial vehicles to their respective destinations when the tragic incident occurred around 8 a.m.
The falling tree led to confusion in the area, resulting in the immediate death of the woman.

Furthermore, it severed electricity cables and caused damage to nearby shops.
Fortunately, some shop owners in the vicinity, along with a vulcanizer named Malam Abdulrasheed, narrowly escaped harm as they hadn’t opened for business at the time of the incident.
The injured victims were swiftly taken to the Olutayo Clinic, a private hospital behind the Baystar petrol station.
Several received treatment and were subsequently discharged, while those with severe injuries were referred to the Government General Hospital and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Oke-Oyi.
Saw millers were deployed to clear the fallen tree and the debris.
