The Gombe State Police Command has absolved Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s Tuesday “thank you” visit and jubilation from the killing of a 21-year-old who was stabbed by suspected hoodlums.

Usman Adamu was allegedly killed and his phone snatched from him by his assailants at Anguwa Uku, when the governor visited the area to say “Thank you” to his supporters for their overwhelming votes.

Yahaya had visited Kwami, Funakaye, Dukku and Nafada Local Government Areas to express his gratitude.

Confirming the killing of Adamu on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, said the youth’s killing had nothing to do with the jubilation atmosphere.

He noted that no arrest had been made, adding that investigation would confirm the cause of the killing.

Abubakar said, “It’s confirmed he (Adamu) was stabbed by thugs and his phone was snatched but so far there is no arrest made. As for now, the investigation is ongoing.

“No connection with the jubilation rally of His Excellency for now, but any development will be communicated.

The investigation will reveal other facts, that’s why I said for now.”

Earlier, the father of the deceased, Adamu Ali, had cried for justice, calling on law enforcement agencies to unravel the cause of the killing of Adamu.
