He made the pledge at the Exco Chambers of the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital, while playing host to the members of the third arm of the government.

Apart from rebuilding and renovating the dilapidated courts spread across the state, his administration, he said, will also empower the judiciary to function effectively.

Kafas recalls that in the past, judges, magistrates and senior members of the judiciary used to access their offices by foot; the reverse, according to the governor, would soon be the case.

For this to be executed, he directed the judges, to, as a matter of urgency, write an official complaint to his office for prompt action.

Speaking on behalf of the judges, the state Acting Chief Judge, Justice Filibus Joel Agye, who reeled out the challenges bedevilling the judicial arm of the government, said they are willing to collaborate with the government.

Among the numerous challenges he enumerated that have been negatively impacting the judiciary, are dilapidated courtrooms, lack of official vehicles for judges, annual vacation allowance, among others.

He also applauded the governor’s efforts in ordering the immediate release of running costs to the judiciary and the various ministries, departments and agencies.
