The Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Alhaji AbdulJabbar Mohammed Umar, disclosed this during a press conference in Kano on Tuesday.

He warned that defaulters risk having their land titles revoked under the Land Use Act of 1978.

“I wish to inform you that the names of the defaulters shall be published across national dailies from tomorrow for their notice and necessary action,” Umar stated.

He added that the names would also be displayed at key government institutions, including the Kano State Library, the Audu Bako Secretariat, Gidan Murtala, and the Kano State High Court.

“These individuals are enjoined to come forward and take necessary actions in order to avoid revocation of their land titles,” he warned.

In a bid to encourage compliance, the commissioner announced a 60-day extension for the recertification process, citing the low response from land owners despite previous sensitization efforts.

“Despite multiple opportunities and public awareness campaigns, many land owners have remained indifferent. Unfortunately, this attitude exposes them to the risk of losing their land assets through revocation,” Umar said.

The commissioner further revealed that the ministry had successfully enumerated 241,025 land properties in Nassarawa and Fagge Local Government Areas, with ongoing efforts in Tarauni, Dala, Kano Municipal, and Gwale Local Government Areas.
