Lawal, alongside Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman and former Kano State Governor, is facing a four-count charge of criminal misappropriation and breach of trust involving ₦240 million.

At Monday’s hearing, the prosecution informed the court that Ganduje had not been served despite a previous court order, while Lawal had been served but was absent.

In response, Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu issued a bench warrant for Lawal and adjourned the case to May 6 for arraignment.
