Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Ryan Gravenberch was only dealing with cramp before his substitution against LASK on Thursday, allaying injury fears for the summer signing from Bayern Munich.

The 21-year-old was making his first start for the Reds on Thursday night, having made a substitute appearance in the Premier League against Wolves at the weekend.

The Dutchman started alongside Harvey Elliot and Wataru Endo in midfield and there was concern early on in Austria when the home team went ahead after just 14 minutes.

However, the visitors powered back after the break, with goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah securing a 3-1 win, Gravenberch setting up the Diaz second.

However, the Netherlands international had to be subbed off on 74 minutes and looked in some discomfort as he limped off the pitch in Linz.

Klopp was quick to dismiss concerns, telling TNT Sports after the game that Gravenberch just had cramp on his first start for the club.

The manager also said of his new signing: ‘Ryan played a super game and was really decisive for us.’

After a sticky first half, Liverpool ended up deserved winners and Klopp said that the Europa League group stage will not be as easy as some have suggested for the Premier League giants.

‘I know people expect us to fly through this competition, it will not happen,’ he said. ‘We have to dig in and I thought we did. We can learn so much.’
