Our Client is looking for a Product Owner to join their leadership team and help grow Africa’s leading online music service focused on the mass market. They currently have experienced rapid growth in recent years and currently have a team of 40 full-time staff spread across Africa.
Job Objectives:
The main responsibility is to manage and optimize the company’s product development process with three key Job Objectives:
- Research product needs, pitch ideas for product features and determine which features to include in the product roadmap.
- Act as a primary contact between the company’s departments, stakeholders and the product and development team.
- Evaluate product features and ensure that the product meets specific objectives as outlined by management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, managing and prioritizing the product backlog.
- Translating the company’s strategies into detailed product feature specifications and ensuring they’re clearly understood by relevant stakeholders.
- Researching and learning the market and the customers’ and stakeholders needs.
- Serving as a liaison between the organization, its stakeholders, product and development.
- Communicate product priorities internally and externally as well as staying accessible to stakeholders (including development) to answer questions.

Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development, preferable across Africa.
- Master’s degree level is ideally in computer science, information systems or related fields.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including proficiency in the use of analytic and research tools
- Working knowledge of product development architecture as well as excellent knowledge of user-Centred design principles
- In-depth knowledge of agile methodology for project management and proficiency with project management tools and technology
- Ability to prioritise effectively, work under pressure and effectively managing conflicting needs of stakeholders
- Strong drive and an ability to work independently and in a team with a hands-on approach to problem solving of day to day issues.
- Experience managing projects across multiple departments and partner organizations.
- Strong communication skills, verbal, written and presentation skills.
