Job description: Financial Controller

Profile:

– A Financial Controller role will see you taken full responsibility for the efforts and results of the financial department in one of our group’s companies. Reporting to Senior Directors, you will provide an overview of all financial and accounting activities, overseeing financial department staff in day-to-day operations.

– You will be based in one of our companies located in West Africa, with our current round of Financial Controller hiring being focused on Nigeria. This is a thriving and rapidly developing international market, and a country in which we have a deep expertise and long standing presence within the country.

– Oversee all company accounts and financial activities, preparing reports and filing relevant documents with group level directors, senior stakeholders, and the board

– Create monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts

– Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports

– Supervise and manage financial department staff, including accountants, accounts managers, and administrators

– Motivate and lead finance team members by clarifying roles and providing helpful feedback

– Suggest updates and improvements for accounting and finance activities, including payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, and spend management

– Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed, and reported

– Establish and implement financial reporting systems to comply with government regulations and legislation

– Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations

– Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports

– Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities

– Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies

– Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations

– Presenting reports to senior executives, stakeholders, and board members.

Qualifications & Experience:

– Minimum 12 years professional experience in finance roles, with at least 3 years in a similar financial controller position

– CA qualified with an MBA or Masters in Finance, Accounting, FP & A, or similar discipline

– Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail

– High level of proficiency with basic and complex Microsoft Excel tasks

– Solid experience of problem solving and business improvement

– Experience of working for a manufacturing, production, or FMCG focused multi-national organisation is highly preferred

– Current/previous experience of working in West Africa is preferred
