Job description: Sahel Consulting Agriculture & Nutrition Limited (SCANL) is a leading management consulting firm focused on the agricultural and nutrition sectors in Africa. We have worked on a variety of projects across West Africa, including in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, and Senegal.

We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:

1.) Administrative Officer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • Manage office supplies stock and place orders
  • Prepare regular reports on expenses and office budgets
  • Maintain and update company databases
  • Organize a filing system for important and confidential company documents
  • Answer queries by employees and clients
  • Distribute and store correspondence (e.g. letters, emails and packages)
  • Prepare reports and presentations with statistical data, as assigned
  • Arrange travel and accommodations
  • Update office policies as needed
  • Maintain a company calendar and schedule appointments
  • Book meeting rooms as required
  • Schedule in-house and external events.

Requirements

  • Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree qualification with at least 3 years of work experience.

2.) Project Coordinator (Climate Smart Agriculture)

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Duties and Responsibilities

Entry Strategy and Proposal Development:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive entry strategy for Sahel Consulting in the CSA and regenerative agriculture landscape.
  • Lead the development of high-quality proposals for CSA projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and Sahel Consulting’s strategic objectives.

Project Implementation and Management:

  • Lead the design and implementation of climate change adaptation and mitigation programs and projects ensuring timely and successful project delivery.
  • Review and contribute to the integration of climate change and green growth into existing and new projects/initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, and milestones, and address any issues or challenges that arise.

Partnership Development and Resource Mobilization:

  • Support the mobilization of resources for climate change interventions by developing partnerships with donors and relevant organizations.
  • Identify funding opportunities and prepare funding proposals to secure financial support for CSA projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to leverage additional resources and enhance project sustainability.

Knowledge and Policy Engagement:

  • Stay updated on climate change issues and policies at national and international levels.
  • Monitor and analyze evolving actions related to climate change in the national and international agenda.
  • Contribute to knowledge management and thought leadership activities related to CSA and climate change.

Minimum Required Skills & Experience

Professional Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in any Environmental-related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years in critical environmental and climate change issues such as climate finance, energy, and sustainability.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing CSA projects, preferably in the context of climate change adaptation and mitigation.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and commitment to advocating climate-smart agriculture is required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the latest innovations and developments in the CSA, regenerative agriculture, soil health, and other issues around agriculture, energy, and the environmental
  • Preference is for candidates who understand project management, business development, resource mobilization, and strategy.

3.) Manager

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

The Manager under the supervision of the Managing Partner shall be required to perform the primary responsibilities outlined below:

  • Provide strategic business solutions and recommendations to clients and partners to meet project goals.
  • Ensure that project deliverables meet client requirements and quality standards. Develop solutions for complex issues identified in projects to achieve the goals and objectives and meet the expectations of clients and partners.
  • Communicate with clients to clearly understand project requirements and scope.
  • Develop work plans and coordinate daily work schedules and project team efforts.
  • Lead data gathering, analysis, and interpretation to provide data-driven insights and recommendations to clients and partners.
  • Work with the HR team to screen and recruit candidates for projects.
  • Lead strategic communication with the leadership teams of clients and partners.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and competence in communication and interactions with clients and partners.
  • Monitor and report project status to clients based on agreed timelines.
  • Lead proposal writing and business development meetings with other team members.
  • Represent the organizations in net working events, convenings and speaking engagements regularly.

Minimum Required Skills & Experience

Professional Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in International Development, Business, Economics, or related field of study
  • Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in senior management position with demonstrated results focus, skills and a track record of delivering beyond expectations.

Operational Expertise:

  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, project development and task facilitation.
  • Experience in supply chain management and in leading implementation in a complex, international organization and/or in large multifaceted projects.
  • Good financial management skills including cash flow management and budgeting.
  • A familiarity with and commitment to addressing gender equality is also required.

Leadership Skills:

  • Ability to shape a vision and strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing alliances with the private sector; ability to build consensus and relationships among executives, partners, and the workforce; adept at aligning stakeholders with differing agenda.
  • Able to attract, inspire, retain and lead a diverse team of highly talented professionals.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Superior interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Strong negotiation and diplomatic skills to support effective work through implementing partners.
  • Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
  • Fluency in the English language, and excellent writing and presentation skills.

Personal Characteristics and Other Requirements:

  • Excellent judgement. Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively and delegate.
  • Preference is for candidates who has worked as a Senior Project Lead in a top consulting firm.
