Jamie Carragher has given his theory on Jurgen Klopp’s row with Mohamed Salah during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham on Saturday.

Liverpool suffered yet another setback in the Premier League title race as the draw has left them third in the Premier League and two points behind leaders Arsenal, who have a game in hand, while Manchester City are one point ahead and have played two fewer games.

But Liverpool fans will also be unhappy with an incident in the second half as Salah was involved in a furious bust-up with Klopp on the touchline.

Salah, who was benched for the game before being brought on as a late substitute following West Ham’s equaliser, angrily gestured towards Klopp and was pulled away from the confrontation by Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez.

The pair then blanked each other as Klopp made his way onto the pitch after the full-time whistle.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher offered his verdict on the event and believes the row could have been sparked by Salah taking too long to prepare on the substitutes’ bench.

‘The only reason a manager would be unhappy in this situation, is the player took too long to be ready to come on,’ Carragher wrote on X.

When asked about his confrontation with Salah after Liverpool’s draw, Klopp said: ‘We spoke already in the dressing room. For me, that’s done.’

Salah, meanwhile, warned that more was to come when asked about the bust-up with the Liverpool manager.

As he walked through the mixed zone at the London Stadium, Salah declined to give an interview to journalists but said: ‘If I speak today there will be fire.’

Former Manchester United and England midfielder Owen Hargreaves believes Klopp’s row with Salah is ‘understandable’ given Liverpool’s failure to win their last two Premier League games.

‘These guys hate losing, proper winners,’ Hargreaves told Premier League Productions.

‘They’re having a proper row. They’re competitive, these guys have won everything, they’re not used to not winning anything, Mo Salah being on the bench, everyone’s frustrated, so it’s understandable.

‘But that’s what happens when you’re a winner. You have these little rows because you’re so competitive, and you’re used to being on top, they’re not on top, the season’s not finishing the way they want and it’s tough to take when you’re a winner.’
