This follows a decision by its nuclear-armed neighbour, Pakistan, to ban Indian airlines from flying over its territory a few days earlier, following the killing of 26 people in an attack on tourists in Kashmir.

According to a Notice to Airmen, NOTAM, issued by the Indian government, the ban on Pakistani aircraft will be in effect from April 30 to May 23.

Newspot reports that Pakistan had previously closed its airspace to Indian airlines and rejected New Delhi’s suspension of a water-sharing treaty.
