The family of Late Reverend Moses Olafioye Olagundoye an Associate member London College of Divinity ( ALCD) has been receiving sympathy visits, messages and phones calls following the devastating Ibadan explosion of 16 January 2024 that brought to rubbles the family residence situated at No 6,Rev Aderinola Street off Adeyi Avenue Old Bodija Estate Ibadan.
The Bodija residence was erected in 1976 and was inhabited by the widow Late Mrs Mary Adenike (widow for 50 years) who passed on to Glory Jan 20,2023 at the age of 83years.
The late Reverend Olagundoye was the first Nigerian General Secretary of Scripture Union (Nig). He took up the assignment on December 1969 from Lagos Diocese Anglican Communion where he was then the Cathedral Chaplain ,Marina Lagos. He was called to Glory in April 29,1973 in a fatally auto accident in the Eastern part of the country while on his way back to Lagos during one of his numerous official assignments .
On Monday, 22nd of January, 2024, some top officials of the Scripture Union Nigeria came to visit, encourage and sympathize with the family of Olagundoyes.
Ven. E.O. Olagundoye the Chaplain of Lead City University Ibadan was at hand to receive the delegation. He briefed them of the sad event and gave Glory to God that some of his family members that were involved survived with injuries. He noted that the matriarch Mama Adenike Olagundoye’s one year remembrance was on Saturday 20th of January,2024.
The officials after introducing themselves, encouraged the Olagundoye family and prayed for the family.
On the entourage were General Director – Bro.Cosmas Uwem HOD SUCF- Bro Abraham Eyeruroma HOD-Bro. Okoro Bro M.O.Adetona-Rep .National Vice Chairman and Sis.M.A.Adetona- Zonal Rep- Akobo Zone.
The Founder , Pro Chancellor and Chairman Governing Councillead city university, ibadan, Nigeria Prof Jide Owoeye came to sympathize with the family.
The Students Fellowship leadership of The Chapel of Peace and Joy ,Lead City University Ibadan came calling too
Various sympathizers have been calling on the family from various works of life and Ministry including bishops as well as the leadership of the Department of Religious Studies and Intercultural Studies of Lead City University led by HOD Ven.Dr.Ayodele Atowoju.
