Hoodlums Allegedly Attack Labour Party Candidate in Lagos

The Labour party (LP) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency 1, Olumide Oworu was attacked during his campaign in the Surulere area of the state.

The 28-year-old actor cum politician narrowly escaped unhurt when some unidentified hoodlums suspected to be political thugs reportedly attacked his team during a campaign walk of the LP on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Olumide Oworu who is famous for his role as ‘Tari Johnson’ in the Africa Magic Series ‘The Johnsons’ had only recently unveiled his political ambition under the Labour Party in Lagos.

Speaking about the incident, the 28-year-old via his verified Twitter handle disclosed that some members of his team sustained injury during the attack.

He further assured his supporters that he will not be deterred, but rather will be more committed to seeing through the campaign.

He tweeted: “My team and I were attacked on Tuesday as we attempted to campaign at Iponri, Surulere. A member of my team was injured, but we are thankful the incident didn’t escalate past the level it was. The case has been reported at the Iponri police station.

“I am not deterred by the incident. Instead I am more committed to seeing this through. We will pass through the wards in constituency 1 (Akinhanmi/Cole, Adeniran/Ogunsanya, Iponri Housing Estate/Eric Moore, Igbaja/Stadium, Shitta/Ogunlana Drive, Yaba/Ojuelegba). See you outside!”
