The management of Green Lotto has said it is leveraging platforms such as football to groom young people and check delinquent activities.
The company’s Head of Brand and Marketing Communications, Imoudu Asekhame, said this during the final of the Five-A-Side football competition held on Sunday in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
According to him, the competition is the brand’s way of demonstrating its deep commitment to mental growth and physical development.
“In the last five years, Green Lotto has built a large community of believers. Therefore, leveraging platforms such as football offers us a unique opportunity to engage and interact with some of our key stakeholders. The aim of the initiative is to groom young people to channel their energy towards sporting activities as this will help check delinquent activities.
“Football is a sport that enhances healthy living and physical development and we tend to support our consumers and our community and this is our way of supporting grassroots football in Nigeria.”
Shedding more light on the tournament, Asekhame added, “We all know that Nigeria is a football-loving nation and the Green Lotto Five-A-Side tournament is not just another soccer tournament designed to create an opportunity for our customers to celebrate and represent their communities.”
He added that the tournament was inspired by the need to create a platform to engage and support young football talents who have the energy and passion for the game and seek the right exposure.
Polarbed Street FC of Ajeabo community were crowned champions after defeating Ojo FC 1-0 in the final. The winners went home with N200,000, a trophy and medals, while runners-up Ojo received medals for coming second in the keenly contested final.
A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Mushin Constituency 1, Yinka Esho, said the competition had the potential to expose the youths of the communities to opportunities to achieve greatness in football both locally and internationally.
Similarly, The Executive Director of Living Heart Foundation, Paul James, hailed Green Lotto for their support.
