Paris, France – Eight individuals have been convicted in connection with the infamous $10 million jewellery heist that targeted American socialite Kim Kardashian in Paris nearly a decade ago. The violent robbery left Kardashian traumatised, with the celebrity recounting her harrowing experience in an emotional testimony during the trial.

The court proceedings, which spanned four weeks, concluded with a verdict for the criminals involved in the October 3, 2016, attack. Kardashian, then 35 years old, was alone in her luxury hotel room when masked assailants, including elderly suspects known as the “grandpa robbers,” forced their way in, bound her, and stole an array of her jewellery. The loot, which included an 18.88-carat diamond engagement ring valued at $4 million, was never recovered.

Aomar Ait Khedache, 68, a well-known figure in Paris’ criminal underworld, was identified as a key player in the crime. His DNA was found on the zip-ties used to restrain Kardashian, and wiretaps revealed his involvement in planning the robbery and attempting to sell the diamonds in Belgium. Khedache denied being the mastermind but admitted his role in the crime. He was sentenced to eight years in prison, with five years suspended.

The trial saw an emotional outpouring from Kardashian, who vividly described the terror she experienced, fearing for her life. “I have babies,” she recalled pleading with the robbers. “I have to make it home. They can take everything. I just have to make it home.” Her testimony deeply affected the court, with Kardashian acknowledging that the ordeal had permanently changed her, making it difficult for her to feel safe even with heavy security.

Despite the aging defendants and health concerns raised by their legal teams, the court imposed sentences reflecting the gravity of the crime. Yunice Abbas, 72, received seven years in prison with five years suspended. Other accomplices, including Didier Dubreucq (69), Marc-Alexandre Boyer (36), and Marc Boyer (62), were sentenced to prison terms or fines, while some individuals, including the only female defendant, Christiane Glotin (78), were acquitted or given suspended sentences.

Kardashian expressed forgiveness toward Khedache after reading a letter from him, though she stated that the trauma caused by the robbery would always remain. “I forgive you for what had taken place,” she said. “But it doesn’t change the emotion, the trauma, and the way my life is forever changed.”

The trial has concluded a dramatic chapter in the saga of one of the most high-profile robberies in modern history, leaving a lasting impact on Kardashian and her family.
