Grandmother of the Lady Youth Corps Member That Died in Lagos Train crash Says Her Bread winner Is Gone

In an interview with BBC News Pidgin, family members of late Aina Oreoluwa Juliana, a 27-year-old corps member who lost her life in the ghastly accident involving a moving train and a Lagos State Government Bus at PWD bus-stop on Thursday, have described the pain of their loss.

According to reports, Aina Oreoluwa Juliana who was doing her National Youth Service Corps program at the Lagos State Ministry of Education was among the 6 passengers who lost their lives to the accident. It was earlier reported that the Bus was conveying 85 passengers when it got hook on the rail track and was crushed by a moving train.

Speaking with BBC News Pidgin, the grandmother of the deceased tearfully narrated that Aina was her first grandchild and she was always taking good care of her. She said whenever she got sick, Aina would get her drugs and take good care of her.

“She was my granddaughter. She always took care of me. She used to do everything in the house. When I am sick, she will buy my drugs, treat me and stand for me. She did not want me to suffer at all, she was the only one. If I call her for anything she will respond, she was a good child to me” –the bereaved grandmother tearfully said.

Another family member of the deceased, her uncle, Tope Aina disclosed that an autopsy will be conducted to know her cause of death because she did not sustain any physical injury on her body.

‘It is painful. I am livid, shocked and everything is still like a dream to me. It is like someone should just wake me and tell me that Ore has gone to work and she is coming back’ –Ore’s aunty said.

In a report by Vanguard, the bus driver has appealed to and sought forgiveness of all the victims of the accident. He said it was not his intention to ignore the warnings of the flag officers as he has been accused of. He claimed that bus developed mechanical faults.
