Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the release of an additional ₦6 billion to settle outstanding retirement benefits, including gratuities and death benefits owed to retired civil servants and families of deceased workers in the state.
This was disclosed on Tuesday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Information, Ibrahim Adam, through a post on his verified Facebook page.
Adam explained that the new payment is part of Governor Yusuf’s continued effort to settle the outstanding pension debts left behind by the previous administration led by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
“This is in addition to the 21 billion naira that His Excellency has so far settled in gratuity and death benefit liabilities of 48.6 billion naira that he inherited from Ganduje’s administration (2016-2023),” Adam stated.
He added that this marks the fourth batch of such payments since Governor Yusuf assumed office in 2023.
