Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of new Special Advisers and the reassignment of some serving advisers in a major restructuring of his administration.
The development was announced in a statement by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
As part of the changes, the governor scrapped the offices of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices, Abuja, while the officials previously occupying the positions were reassigned.
Habiba Mustapha Barwa, who served as Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, has been redeployed as Special Adviser, Special Duties, Women. Hon. Umar Uba Akawu, formerly Special Adviser on Liaison Offices, Abuja, is now Special Adviser, Cabinet Office, Political.
Other affected officials include Akibu Isa Murtala, who moved from Special Adviser, Administration, Governor’s Office, to Special Adviser, Human Resource. Ibrahim Adam was reassigned from Special Adviser on Information to Special Adviser on Social Media, while Nasiru Isa Dikko moved from Special Adviser on NGOs to Special Adviser on Empowerment.
Governor Yusuf also appointed Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser, Administration, Governor’s Office. Bello previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Administration to the Governor.
In the fresh appointments, Hon. Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa, the immediate past State Publicity Secretary of the APC, was named Special Adviser on Publicity, while Hon. Buhari Sule Kura was appointed Special Adviser on Non-Governmental Organizations.
Hon. Yahuza Ado Yankaba was also elevated from Senior Special Assistant on Motor Parks to Special Adviser on Motor Parks.
Other newly appointed Special Advisers include Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Musa, Hon. Ibrahim Hamisu Rimi, Mustapha Abdullahi Rabiu Kura, Engr. Bashir Abdullahi Kutama, Hon. Naziru Abdullahi Karaye and Hon. Tahir Ado Rabiu.
Governor Yusuf said the restructuring was aimed at improving administrative efficiency and aligning government offices with the priorities of his administration.
He congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through commitment, loyalty and dedication to public service.
The governor also reminded them that public office is a trust that must be used to advance the welfare of Kano State residents.
According to the statement, appointees affected by the scrapping of offices are to report to the Secretary to the State Government for further briefing, while portfolios of some of the newly appointed advisers will be announced upon the governor’s return to the country.
