Gov Mutfwang calls for calm over gunmen’s attack in Plateau community

Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau told the residents of the state on Friday to remain calm over the recent attack on the Chikam community in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

The governor made the appeal in a statement issued by his spokesman, Gyang Bere, on Friday in Jos.

Newspot reports that the attack led to the deaths of scores of residents, including a 200-level Computer Science student of the Plateau University, Bokkos.

The governor said in the statement that security agencies were working hard to restore normalcy in the area.

“We condemn this barbaric act, but we want to reassure Plateau citizens, particularly students of our university, of our unwavering commitment to safeguarding their lives and property.

“I want to urge everyone to remain calm in the face of this tragedy. Government is determined to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the crime,” he said.

Governor Mutfwang further stressed the importance of collaboration among residents, community leaders, and security agencies towards the safety of all.
