German tabloid newspaper Bild have aimed a brutal dig at Tottenham striker Harry Kane amid rumours the Englishman could stay in north London.
Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, who have had two bids rejected for the 30-year-old and are set to launch a third offer worth £85m.
But reports emerged this week that Kane, who has less than a year left on his Spurs contract, is prepared to sign a new deal if a transfer to Bayern falls through.
It is thought that Kane feels it would be unfair on new Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou to leave Tottenham after August 13 – their first game of the new Premier League season – and would be willing to consider a contract extension.
The news is a massive boost to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is desperate to keep hold of Tottenham’s all-time record goalscorer amid immense transfer speculation over his future, after the player attracted interest from several clubs.
German outlet Bild appear to be upset over Kane’s stance, with their columnist Raimund Hinko describing Kane as an old ‘bone’ before slamming Tottenham and arguing that the England captain is not worth his £100m price tag.
He also mocked Kane’s ‘wide arm movement’ which ‘fill almost the entire penalty area’ before suggesting that Robert Lewandowski is the far superior player.
‘You can’t let Tottenham show you up, dear Bayern officials,’ Hinko wrote. ‘Who are they from this London suburb anyway? English champions in Stone Age football 62 and 72 years ago.’
Kane was linked to Manchester United earlier in the window but the Red Devils were not willing to meet Tottenham’s £100m asking price.
Levy then came close to reaching an agreement with Paris-Saint Germain to sell Kane to the French champions – but the Englishman snubbed the Ligue 1 side.
