Four remanded for destroying campaign billboards in Kwara

Four suspects arrested for the alleged destruction of billboards and posters in Kwara State have been remanded at the Federal Correctional facility in Ilorin.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Paul Odama, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Ilorin on Friday, said the four suspects arrested for the crime were charged to court after a police investigation.

They were charged with alleged criminal conspiracy, causing hurt, disturbance of public peace and mischief.

The police gave the names of the suspects to include Lukman Giwa, Elesinla Nabeel, Munirudeen Olosasa and Abdulrasheed Olosasa.

They were arrested on December 3, 2022, at Abdulrasaq Olosasa compound, Ode Alausa Ilorin while destroying billboards

The police boss said the destruction of billboards, campaign posters and other materials constituted a crime in the Electoral Act of 2022.

The PUNCH reports that hoodlums, last week Saturday, vandalised campaign posters of some candidates in Ode Alausa, in Ilorin, the state capital.
