Newcastle United defender, Dan Burn has played down the harshness of his injury-time fight with Chelsea forward, Kai Havertz following his side’s Premier League 1-0 win over the Blues on Saturday evening.
Newcastle defeated Chelsea at St. James’ Park, thanks to a second-half goal from Joe Willock.
However, during the closing stages of the match, Burn and Havertz were involved in a bust-up on the pitch after both players squared up to each other.
Burn and Havertz share a history as the Chelsea attacker escaped a red card when he elbowed the Newcastle defender during their match at Stamford Bridge back in March.
When asked about the incident after the match, Burn said at his post-match press conference: “It was the emotion of the game, was not it?
“Me and Kai had a few run-ins before and it is just part and parcel of the game. It can get the better of you at times.
“But when you are in that environment and clinging on in stoppage time and wanting to win the game, these things happen.”
