A step in the right direction by the richest Oil Magnate in the African Continent today – the one and only Aliko Dangote of Nigeria.
The Whistle Blower Role played by Aliko Dangote, I believe is what has now led to the sudden resignation of NMDPRA Boss, Mr. Farouk.
The big point Aliko Dangote has made with his whistleblower role is to insist that there is an urgent need for Federal Authorities to more proactively police the power brokers of the Up-Stream and Down -Stream Oil of Nigeria which is the predominant Source of Nigeria’s internally and externally -generated Revenues?
One of the reasons that the notorious Oil Subsidy Conundrum had become an Albatross on the neck of Nigeria and has held Nigeria to ransom for several decades was because there was no one to cry wolf sooner just like Dangote has done now.
We all know that Dangote himself may now be rebelling against a system that he himself has singularly enjoyed for donkey years from federal patronage without anyone raising a finger.
The point Aliko is now making is that the Guardians should be guarded.
He is also asking and rightly so about who will hunt the Hunters for purposes of Accountability and needed monitoring to be sure they are not left on their own whim and caprices and that they are not left unregulated and closely monitored or supervised at all times because they are also human like the rest of us.
The Secret Service and the DSS meaning the Department of State Security is a good example.
There is always a need to for a private eye to pry into what they are doing and how they are doing it.
The Department is established to protect the country and to nip a bad situation in the bud before it becomes an inferno that can irredeemably damage any country however powerful like the two or 3 Super Powers of the World today in The United States, China, and Russia right now for purposes of argument. Who is really minding the store and making sure that these World Powers are all acting within the confines of the Rules and Regulations?
There ought to be a body like the Security Council of the United Nations or any other body like that to do what Aliko Dangote is boldly suggesting.
Aliko Dangote the richest man in Africa has raised a very valid point that a very responsible Federal Government has to properly and meticulously look into for the global and ultimate security of Nigeria.
It is true that some powerful individuals have resigned their appointments as a fall out from the whistle-blowing steps taken by Aliko Dangote as a very patriotic Nigerian multi billionaire or trillionaire who has the best interest of the country at heart.
Many of our power brokers are just damn too greedy and they, like Oliver Twist are never tired of asking for more and taking undue advantage of our country, if we let them get away with it.
Oil Magnate Aliko Dangote has raised a very valid point that President Tinubu and his Government must pursue to its logical conclusion.
The EFCC and Agencies in charge of Public probity must be made to do their work and while doing it they too must have a body to police them and to make sure that they too are not abusing the privilege assigned to them.
There is an urgent need for the Hunters to be hunted and for the Guardians to be guarded” to borrow a cliche from Reuben Abati of the Arise TV Talkshow on YouTube
I rest my case.
Dr. Wumi Akintide.
