Coordinator laments vandalism of World Bank projects in Taraba communities

The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL), a World Bank-assisted initiative addressing land degradation and climate change in Northern Nigeria, has reported the disturbing vandalism of its projects in various communities in Taraba State.

The State coordinator of the ACReSAL project, Joshua Samaila Dumuti, revealed this concern during a meeting with the new leadership of Gashaka Local Government Council in Jalingo.

He said boreholes and solar power installations in different communities are the primary targets of vandalism across the state.

He said local government councils where vandals have been taking advantage of the organization’s property include Bali, Jalingo, Ardokola, and Gashaka.

He urged the new leadership of the council to do everything humanly possible to protect the projects.

Commending the new leadership of Gashaka for their visit, Joshua appreciated the area’s aesthetic appeal and pledged ACReSAL’s collaboration to restore structures and beauty marred by human activities and other factors.

The chairman of the council, Umar Yusuf, assured that he would engage stakeholders to ensure the protection and judicious use of all ACReSAL projects in Gashaka.
