Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has admitted his side “came up short” against Brighton in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have been eliminated from the competition following a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates.
Eddie Nketiah opened the scoring, but Robert De Zerbi’s men fought back through a Danny Welbeck penalty and second-half goals from Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey, to progress into the fourth round.
Arteta, who made 10 changes to the team that beat Chelsea 1-0, said: “That’s the squad we have.
“We have to try and utilise it as well as possible. But today we came up short. We didn’t do what we needed to do in both boxes to win the match.
“We know where we are and we have injuries in a squad that is already short. We have to manage that in the best possible situation.”
