BYOD SETS FOR LAUNCH – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has called on prospective candidates to brace up for the grand unveiling of the revolutionary “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) initiative.

It would be recalled that this novel initiative was unveiled on 24th June, 2023, at the 2023 Policy Meeting in Abuja, where the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed that going forward, prospective Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates would be allowed to bring their own devices to the examination halls for the purpose of taking the UTME.

According to the Head, Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in an interaction with JAMBulletin on Friday, 1st September, 2023, at the Board’s National Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja, he called on all prospective candidates to prepare for the commendable initiative, which he said would reshape the e-testing landscape.

Highlighting the benefits of BYOD, Dr. Benjamin said, “This will save cost in terms of the humongous expenses that go into the yearly conduct of UTME as well as helping to obviate the need for constant replacement of hardware and software occasioned by wear and tear.”

“Also, practising ahead with their own devices to be used for the examination will tremendously hone their computer literacy skills to perfection. That’s not all, taking the examination with their own devices will allay their fear of new technology.” “I, therefore, urge all prospective candidates to start practising with the devices they intend to use in the coming UTME, prior to which a pilot test will be conducted to aid the smooth implementation of the project,”  he submitted
